Manitoba Nurses Were Not Consulted

Nurses Were Not Consulted

WINNIPEG - To help with the surgical backlog, the province is proposing to continue with procedures at or near full capacity through summer when things normally slow down.

However, the Manitoba Nurses' Union says it was not consulted on the plan which was announced last week by health minister Audrey Gordon.

MNU president Darlene Jackson says her nurses are worried they will be asked to voluntarily work during their scheduled vacations.

Shared Health says there's no plan to cancel nursing vacations and the new summer schedule of surgeries was developed based on projected staffing.
