WINNIPEG - Manitoba's New Democrats are promising three new emergency rooms at Winnipeg hospitals to replace those closed by the governing Progressive Conservatives.
The Tories have responded by calling the promise desperate and empty and saying it contradicts earlier media interviews in which NDP Leader Wab Kinew said he wouldn't reopen all three ERs.
Kinew says if his party wins the election scheduled for October 3rd, it would ensure emergency departments are available at the Victoria, Seven Oaks and Concordia hospitals. He would also establish a rural ER in Eriksdale.
The PC government downgraded the city facilities in 2017 to urgent care centres.
