WINNIPEG - Manitoba Hydro will ask for less of a rate hike.
Initially, the Crown corporation wanted increases of 3.5 per cent a year over the next couple of years.
However, the request to the Public Utilities Board is being revised to two per cent a year for the next 19 months.
Credit for this change is being given to the provincial government and its decision to lower fees charged to the utility for debt guarantees and water usage which will save Hydro $190 million this year and more in the future.
