Manitoba First Nations To Attend King's Coronation

First Nations At Coronation

WINNIPEG - A delegation of Manitoba First Nations leaders is expected to take in the coronation of King Charles in London.

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs says officials from various advocacy groups in the province will go as a reminder to the Crown of its responsibilities as treaty partners.

The leaders are set to meet with Crown representatives to speak about the monarch's role as it relates to Indigenous issues.

Grand Chief Jerry Daniels, of the Southern Chiefs' Organization, says the event may cause a wide range of emotions for First Nations people and there is plenty of room for improvement in the relationship with the Crown.
