WINNIPEG - The Manitoba government is offering to pay doctors a 20 per cent premium for their services when they are offered at family and pediatric clinics on weekends and holidays.
The premium is also being offered for weekday services early in the morning and during the evening.
It is part of efforts to relieve some of the stress hospital emergency departments are experiencing.
The province is also providing funding for 40 new undergraduate seats to train physicians.
Doctors Manitoba, which represents physicians across the province, says the changes will help address burnout issues and a shortage of doctors.
