WINNIPEG - A church in Manitoba that repeatedly disregarded provincial gathering limits at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic has been fined $30,000.
The Church of God admitted in court to violating the Public Health Act between November 22nd of 2020 and May 23rd of 2021.
The church near Steinbach was ticketed 16 times for breaking the law by continuing to hold in-person services after the province restricted crowd sizes to slow the spread of COVID.
The fine was jointly recommended by the Crown and the church's lawyer in a plea deal that saw a dozen additional charges stayed.
