WINNIPEG - Manitoba's NDP leader is promising to be tough on crime if his party wins the upcoming election.
Wab Kinew says he would help people who suffer from addictions and bring the hammer down on drug dealers.
The speech on Wednesday which drew on his past runins with the law accused his political opponents are playing politics with crime. Kinew also pledged to never defund the police.
He criticized Heather Stefanson and her Progressive Conservative government for its record on crime and justice, saying crime rates have worsened and jails have become what he called gangster university.
