Kinew Calls For Searches

WINNIPEG - Manitoba NDP leader Wab Kinew is calling for searches at all former residential schools after the discovery of a mass grave at a school site in BC.

215 bodies were found at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops.

Kinew says as the son of of a residential school survivor and the father of a child the same age as the youngest victims found in BC, the news hit home hard.

Many other Indigenous leaders are also calling for searches.

In Saskatchewan, where the last residential school closed in 1996, the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations has called for ground radar searches at sites where they have been told of potential mass graves.
