WINNIPEG, MB. – Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface Hospital and Gimli Community Health Centre will soon be the recipients of some much needed medical equipment.

The Manitoba government has approved $5.1 million in funding to purchase specialized medical equipment for Manitoba health-care facilities, Health, Seniors and Active Living Minister Kelvin Goertzen announced today.

The purchase and installation of these new items will help with diagnosis and treatment wait times while mitigating increased staffing costs from decreased access to the specialized equipment.

The items include:

  • a CT scanner at Health Sciences Centre;
  • a cardiac catheterization medical system and specialized laboratory analysis equipment at St. Boniface General Hospital; and
  • an x-ray machine at Gimli Community Health Centre.
