Free Birth Control?

WINNIPEG - Medical students at the U of M want the province to provide free contraception to Manitobans.

They've been pitching the benefits of this to the Pallister government in a series of Zoom meetings.

The students say the cost of birth control can be prohibitive and a policy like this would free people from the physical, emotional and social consequences of unwanted pregnancy.

In making their case, the students say unplanned pregnancies in 15 to 44 year olds cost governments more than $380 million each year.
