ER Visits By Kids Still Elevated

WINNIPEG - Shared Health says patient volumes at the children’s emergency department at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg are no longer at unprecedented levels but they are still elevated.

Last week, there were 201 visits on Sunday alone which is the highest count for one day in several years.

That number was down to 152 by Thursday, with 15 of those kids being admitted for treatment.

Shared Health has said the ER is seeing children testing positive for a variety of respiratory viruses including bronchiolitis caused by RSV, influenza A and COVID-19.
