WINNIPEG - A local business that's defied COVID-19 public health orders for months may have to pay a huge fine.
Monstrosity Burger on Corydon Avenue is facing an "information laid" charge for repeated offences under the Public Health Act.
The province says a judge will determine the fine but it could go as high as $1 million.
The restaurant has been ticketed and fined numerous times during the pandemic.
In just one month, the restaurant received eight fines totalling $40,000.
Manitoba issued 31 warnings and 33 tickets this week. Most of them were for $298 for not wearing a mask.
