WINNIPEG - COVID-19 infection rates are on the rise in Manitoba's Southern Health Region.
Even more so than the Winnipeg Health Region which is much more densely populated.
24 of Friday's 60 new cases of the virus are in the south, where vaccine uptake is very low in comparison to other parts of the province.
Chief public health officer, Dr. Brent Roussin, said recently southern communities are fuelling our fourth wave of the pandemic.
Steinbach mayor Earl Funk says he's concerned about where the trend could lead.
