COVID Fines Not Being Paid

WINNIPEG - Manitoba has collected less than 15 per cent of COVID-19 fines.

2,586 tickets have been issued with a value of over $3.5 million in fines.

However, the province has only collected about $460,000 of that total.

Officials say collection efforts are ongoing and people who ignore tickets will be indicted by default and they won't be able to renew their driver's licence or vehicle registration until any fine is paid.

Unpaid fines are also sent to a collection agency and they can affect a person's credit rating.
