COVID-19 Postponing More Surgeries In Manitoba

COVID Postponing Surgeries

WINNIPEG - Starting today, some elective surgeries are being postponed in Manitoba because of rising COVID-19 cases.

Shared Health says the move is being made to ensure there's enough staff to handle emergency and cancer operations.

Up to 15 patients a day will be contacted about their procedure being postponed or moved.

People who need urgent surgery before Christmas will be prioritized after being assessed.

According to Doctors Manitoba, the surgical backlog has topped 152,000.
