WINNIPEG - Manitoba flood forecasters are keeping a close eye on a Colorado low that could bring significant precipitation to the Red River basin next week.
The river has crested south of Winnipeg where there's some overland flooding but north of the city, people are on standby as ice jams continue to be an issue.
The province has activated the Floodway to divert rising water levels but with weather models showing up to and over 50 millimetres of rain and/or snow on Wednesday or Thursday, it's unclear what impact a weather event like that might have.
Important point here.. regardless of what phase that precip falls with next week's storm system (rain/snow/frzg precip), it's looking more and more likely that a significant amount of precipitation could fall over the Red River basin Wed-Thu. 50+ mm possible in the RRV https://t.co/OiXBxLuQtw
