WINNIPEG - The Manitoba government has introduced legislation which would allow a person access to information about their partner's past if they believe there's a risk of violence.
Families minister Rochelle Squires says the aim of Clare's Law is to prevent violence before it happens.
Exactly what info would be released by police still needs to be developed by cabinet but those receiving it would need to keep in confidential.
The legislation is similar to Clare's Law which has been enacted in a number of jurisdictions.
Wow. This is a long time coming! Better late than never!!
