Carberry Woman Assaulted, Thrown From Vehicle and Forced to Walk For Hours to Get Help

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE – A 42 year-old woman from Carberry was robbed and assaulted before she was thrown from a vehicle and forced to walk for several hours to get help.

The victim was picked up on April 28 by a friend in Carberry along with another man. He proceeded to assault her with a weapon and forced back into the vehicle. She was driven around the area for a period of time before being thrown from the vehicle onto the side of the road. She was forced to walk for several hours before she could get help.

RCMP have arrested 21-year-old Austin Russell Wieler, of Portage La Prairie, as he was found in possession of the victim’s vehicle. He was remanded into custody on charges of Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
