Better Flu Messaging Needed In Manitoba

Better Flu Messaging Needed

WINNIPEG - Uptake is low so Manitoba doctors are urging the province to boost its messaging about the importance of the flu shot.

Dr. Candace Bradshaw, a family physician and president of Doctors Manitoba, says this should include babies and preschoolers, as influenza cases continue to surge.

The government did release a flu update on Wednesday but there was no news conference involving public health officials.

Flu symptoms are to blame for around half of pediatric visits to the emergency department at Children's Hospital in Winnipeg but only about 10 per cent of kids have been vaccinated.
