WINNIPEG - FortWhyte Alive is welcoming the birth of several baby bison.
The arrival of about seven calves was announced on Mother’s Day, and the centre explains the births have grown their herd to consist of more than 40 of the animals.
FortWhyte says the newborns are a little clingy around their mother as they grow stronger and explore their newfound habitat.
Staff say the public is welcome to come by and visit whenever it’s possible, and not just to see the bovine. Fort Whyte has plenty of newly-hatched goslings in the marsh, geese nesting, and prairie grass, lakes, forests, and wetlands to explore - just the kind of easy, safe, and relaxing pastime Manitobans need these days.
