Alcohol a Factor in Collision That Kills a 15-Year-Old

WINNIPEG, MB – Early Saturday morning, around 1:20 AM, RCMP from Manitou responded to a single-vehicle collision.

Police said the vehicle was in a field off of Road 66 West, approximately five kilometres southwest of Bruxelles, in the RM of Lorne.

A pickup truck with two people inside, an 18-year-old male driver and a 15-year-old male passenger, both from the RM of Lorne, were driving in a field when it flipped over.

The driver, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured. The passenger, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP have charged 18-year-old Kyle Nolan Devos with Impaired Driving Causing Death, Dangerous Driving Causing Death and several Highway Traffic Act related charges.

Officers from the Manitou Detachment along with an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
