5 Dead In Highway Crash

WINNIPEG - RCMP say five people who died in a weekend crash in western Manitoba were not wearing seatbelts and were thrown from the vehicle.

In a news release, the Mounties say an SUV, with the five occupants, was travelling northbound on Highway 83 south of Swan River on Saturday when it entered the ditch and rolled into a field.

The release says the three men and two women, who ranged in age from 25 to 42, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash but they continue their work.
