3 Patients Moved To TBay

WINNIPEG - Just a day after health minister Heather Stefanson said Manitoba's ICU capacity could handle a surge of COVID-19 patients, the province revealed three critically ill people were transferred to a hospital in Thunder Bay.

Two were moved on Tuesday, while the third went on Wednesday.

Shared Health says multiple days of hospital admissions placed extreme strain on health care workers.

Stefanson says more COVID patients may have to be transferred if hospitalizations continue to spike.

The opposition New Democrats say the Pallister government failed to expand hospital capacity in preparation for this third wave of the pandemic but the province says it's in the process of adding more intensive car beds.
