16 Year-Old Dies in Accident Near Plum Coulee

MANITOBA – A 16 year-old boy from Schanzenfeld has died after he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a hydro pole.

The boy, along with his 17 year-old and 18 year-old passengers, was heading westbound on Road 12N, approximately three kilometres south of Plum Coulee, just before 2:00 AM on March 15.

The 16-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased on scene. Two other male occupants in the vehicle, an 18-year old and 17-year-old who were both wearing their seatbelts, were assessed by EMS. The 18-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the 17-year-old was treated and released.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.
