15 People Charged

WINNIPEG - Manitoba RCMP have been conducting their Holiday Checkstop program and in week two stopped over 2500 vehicles across the province during 121 checkstops.

Police sad 15 people were charged with a Criminal Code Impaired Driving offence (12 alcohol, 2 drug, 1 refusal). The highest blood/alcohol reading reported was 0.280

There were 5 alcohol or drug-related tiered administrative roadside suspensions, 184 traffic (Highway Traffic Act) charges and 14 written warnings issued.

Last year during week two, RCMP conducted 70 checkstops, checked approximately 3530 vehicles, and charged 23 people with Criminal Code Impaired Driving offences.
