1 Death, 153 Cases

WINNIPEG - The province is reporting one death today from COVID-19, a woman in her 30's in the Interlake.

There are 153 new cases of the virus today, including 73 in Winnipeg and 57 in the north.

The P1 variant of concern has been detected in Manitoba for the first time. It's a case in the Interlake. The variants now total 647, with 288 of them active. Two people have been killed by the variants.

1,528 cases are active, 33,205 people have recovered, for a total of 35,688 cases so far.

137 Manitobans are in hospital right now, 35 of them in the ICU.

The five day test positivity rate in the province is 5.3 per cent. Winnipeg's rate is 5.1. 2,648 tests were done in the last 24 hours for a total of 613,701 since the pandemic began.

The death toll now sits at 955.
