Manitoba Moose Make History and Win

Sports

WINNIPEG, MB – It was an historical night for the Manitoba Moose as they played at Place Bell for the very first time in franchise history.

This is the first game of a back to back for the Moose and Laval Rocket. Manitoba was first to score on a goal from Mason Appleton. Eric Comrie did his part at the other end of the ice to keep the Moose in front, robbing the Rocket of what looked like a sure goal, scrambling to stick with the shooter to stone him with a pad save. The Moose end the first with a one gaol lead.

The Moose got into some penalty trouble in the second Despite successfully killing off a 5-on-3, Laval finally put one behind Comrie at the 3:25 mark of the period. Manitoba took the lead back when Elgin Pearce scored on Lindgren. Manitoba maintained the 2-1 lead into the third.

In the third, Manitoba used the power play to add to their lead as Nic Petan made a brilliant play to react quickly and go between his legs to send a pass over to Michael Spacek, who pounded the puck home at 6:41. Laval pulled its goalie with over three minutes left and that gamble nearly paid off but, it wasn’t enough. Patrice Cormier capped it off with an empty net goal for the Moose to end the game 4-1.
