WINNIPEG, MB - The Manitoba Bison women's hockey team has won their first national championship.
The Bison women played the number three ranked Western Mustangs and beat them 2 - 0 this afternoon in London, Ontario.
Bison coach Jon Rempel said after winning the championship, “This team had laser focus and thought their approach all year was on point and it paid off. We had outstanding control throughout the gold medal game and thought our second was one of the best periods we played all season. I thought the game was on our stick throughout and we played like we had played throughout the season.”
This is the sixth time the Bison women have played in the Championship Weekend and the fist time winning in the program’s 21 year history.
