WINNIPEG, MB – KidSport Winnipeg and Mark Scheifele, Winnipeg Jets forward and KidSport Winnipeg Athlete Ambassador, are pleased to announce the 4th Annual Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp will take place June 23 & 24, 2018 at the Bell MTS Iceplex.

The two-day hockey camp is open to boys and girls aged 5-12 and features both skater and goalie-specific training sessions. Scheifele, along with expert coaches from the Winnipeg Jets’ Development Team will provide kids with fundamental and advanced on-ice skills training and off-ice multi-sport instruction. Manitoba Moose goaltender Michael Hutchinson will assist with the goalie training sessions.

“I’m really looking forward to this year’s camp and having a great time with all the kids again,” said Scheifele. “It’s such a rewarding and positive experience to be on ice with them and help them grow their game. The energy and enthusiasm they bring is contagious and we have so much fun together as we work on developing their skills. Due to the generous support of FXR, the other sponsors and families participating in the camp, KidSport Winnipeg is able to give more kids in the community the chance to play sports and this is something I’m grateful to be a part of and that we can all be proud of achieving.”

The hockey camp beneficiary is KidSport Winnipeg and all proceeds will help pay the registration fees for kids who cannot participate in sport due to financial barriers.

“It’s very exciting to once again be supporting the Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp and KidSport Winnipeg,” said Milt Reimer, owner of FXR. “It’s great to support a local community program that helps kids who normally would not have an opportunity to participate in sport due to financial limitations, develop their skills and confidence. It’s impressive to see the commitment of Mark Scheifele and other professional hockey players who are taking the time to coach, inspire and hangout with these kids. We are honored to continue to support Mark and KidSport Winnipeg in creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.”

“The on-going success of the Annual Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp is a strong testament to the power of many factions working together for a greater good,” said Rick McGregor, Co-Chair, KidSport Winnipeg. “FXR, Mark, and the staff and volunteers of KidSport Winnipeg are all critical components of the total team effort it takes to put on a successful camp that is thoroughly enjoyed by the participating kids and their parents, and provides an important opportunity to help get more kids and families involved in sports and their communities.”
