Rare Fish Washes Ashore

WINNIPEG - A weird looking fish that washed up recently on a California beach has been identified.

It's a very rare Pacific Footballfish.

The 18 inch long fish normally lives over 3,000 feet deep in the ocean so exactly how it ended up on a beach in Orange County is a mystery.

The female Footballfish has a long stalk on its head with bioluminescent tips which are used as a lure to entice prey into the darkness of deep waters.
