WINNIPEG - Rod Murphy was in the front yard of his Florida home to turn off his sprinkler system ahead of a rainstorm when lightning struck a small tree across the street in a neighbour's yard.
No one was hurt but as you can see, the bolt of lightning sent chunks of earth 20 feet into the air.
The whole incident was caught on video by his Ring security camera.
The Lightning Safety Council wrote on Twitter, “Any time you can hear thunder, stay indoors. Most lightning injuries and fatalities occur when the storm is approaching or when it is leaving…there is no safe place outdoors when lightning is in the area.”
