Grand Rapids Shuts Out Manitoba

WINNIPEG, MB – The Grand Rapids Griffins seem to have Manitoba’s number beating the Moose for the second time this week.

Grand Rapids got on the board first at 11:57 into the period with a goal by Ben Street. The Griffins added to their lead with only 1:46 left in the period, Dominic Turgeon scored to put the Griffins in front 2-0.

The Moose had their chances early in the second period, but Griffins goalie Jared Coreau was on top of his game making 17 saves in the second. Turgeon scored his second of the game for Grand Rapids, the only goal scored in the second, making it a 3-0 after 60 minutes of play.

Turgeon completed the natural hat-trick three minutes into the frame for the Griffins with a shorthanded goal. Former Winnipeg Jets forward Eric Tangradi added to the scoring with 2:52 left in the game. Coreau finished the night with 38 saves to record his second straight shutout as the Moose fell 5-0 to the Griffins.
